Paconi excellent in riveting drama

Sidney Lumet’s Dog Day Afternoon Special Edition (Warner, €24.99) is yet another great Al Pacino movie.

Pacino plays Sonny, a dim-witted guy who together with his pal Sal (John Cazale) plans a robbery that goes disastrously wrong.

Lumet directs with aplomb and Pacino deservedly picked up an Oscar nomination.

Extras on this two-disc release include an insightful Lumet commentary and a host of featurettes, including one on Lumet. Riveting.
