One D reach out to Colorado shooting victim after Twitter campaign

One Direction have sent a touching video message to the victim of a Colorado high school shooting.

Student Claire Davis of Arapahoe High School in Denver, US, is in a coma in hospital after being shot in the head by a gunman last week and after hearing she liked their music, the boy band have sent her a video hoping she gets better.

In the clip, posted on YouTube by Claire's family, the band's Liam Payne says: "Hi Claire. We hear you're a big fan and we just wanted to show you some love.

"What's happened to you is absolutely terrible and we can't bear thinking about it. So we just wanted to share some love with you. All our prayers with you and your family. Hope you get well soon."

Reports say Claire had tried to intervene with the 18-year-old gunman - who was looking for one of the school's librarians - when he shot her. He then took his own life.

Since the tragedy, Claire's friends had started a #Get1DtoClaire campaign on Twitter which was noticed by the group - which also includes Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson, who also appear in the video - and spurred them to record their message.
