New Zealand knights Peter Jackson

Film director Peter Jackson has been knighted in New Zealand's New Year Honours' list.

Sir Peter is best known for his 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy which scooped 17 Oscars.

He has been honoured in his home country for services to film.

New Zealand knights and dames are sanctioned by England's Queen Elizabeth as she is head of state.
