Nelly tries to explain why Kelly Rowland used a spreadsheet to text in Dilemma music video

US rapper Nelly has attempted to explain why Kelly Rowland tried to send a text message on Excel spreadsheet in the video to the pair’s hit track Dilemma.

Fourteen years after the video was released, the rapper was quizzed on the technical mishap during an appearance on The Project TV show on Friday.

Just over three minutes into the video, the former Destiny Child singer, who plays Nelly’s love interest, types out a message on a mobile phone.

She is seen inside at the window of her house before she types: “Where you at? Holla when you get this” on a spreadsheet.

Asked why it was done, Nelly said: “That was the thing at the time. That was the new technology at the time.”

He added: “It looks a little dated now, I can see that.”

Not everyone was happy with his attempted explanation.

And here’s the full music video just so you can enjoy it in all its glory.
