Mel B gives herself 'eight out of 10' for health

Mel B is an "eight out of 10" when it comes to health.

The former Spice Girl takes better care of herself since giving birth to daughters Phoenix, 10 and Angel, two.

The 34-year-old star said: "The older you get, and the more kids you have, the more you want to take care of yourself. I want to set a good example for them. On a health scale of one to 10, I'm an eight.

"I've smoked on and off for years, but it's a really bad thing and I wouldn't promote it. I've never been a heavy smoker or heavy drinker - I'm more on the healthy, fun side than the 'let me destroy my body' side."

Mel - who is married to film producer Stephen Belafonte - is also relaxed when it comes to her diet and fitness regime.

She explained: "I don't believe in diets - I believe in making healthy eating part of your everyday lifestyle. Plus, I do have a husband who cooks the most delicious food. If you're going to eat healthily, make it taste right.

"I only work out every other day for one hour, but I like to mix it up, so it could be an hour-long hike, a spin class, or the gym doing cardio and weights. I love it because I can see the results!"
