Louise Redknapp: Strictly reminds me of early days with Jamie

Louise Redknapp has said starring in Strictly Come Dancing has reminded her of the early days of her marriage to husband Jamie.

The former Eternal singer will go head to head with actor Danny Mac and BBC presenter Ore Oduba in Saturday night’s final after 12 weeks of the competition.

Speaking at a press conference alongside professional partner Kevin Clifton and her rivals for the glitterball trophy, Louise said: “I did it for real personal reasons. I just wanted to get out and do something for me.

“Everyone who has got kids knows that your life becomes very wrapped up in them and you end up doing nothing that you love doing.

The 42-year-old said the show had reminded her that she “loves performing” and it had been made more “special” by how much of a fan her ex-footballer husband Jamie had been.

“I thought it was going to be so not up his street,” she said.

“I can’t get rid of him. He comes every Saturday, he’s in the front row. He’s in the training room and I wasn’t expecting that.

“I was expecting it would be me going off to work, doing my thing.”

“That has made this even more special because it’s something really nice to see someone you love extremely proud of you and it takes me back to most probably how we were 20 years ago when we first met and I was on stage.”

Louise and Kevin will perform three routines in Saturday night’s final in a bid to win the Strictly crown.

The pair will perform a showdance to One Moment In Time by Whitney Houston as well as their Argentine tango to Sexteto Mayor’s Tanguera, which scored them 39 in week seven.

Their third routine – the judges’ choice dance – will be revealed during the finale.
