Little Mix enjoy Glory Days as Kate Bush album fails to reach top spot

Kate Bush has missed out on scoring her first UK number one album in nearly 30 years as Little Mix held the top spot for the second week in a row.

Bush, 58, was on track at the beginning of the week to soar up the charts with her new album, Before The Dawn, but the record has landed in fourth place, according to the Official Charts Company.

Sales of Glory Days, the latest album from former X Factor winners Little Mix (Perrie Edwards, Jesy Nelson, Jade Thirlwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock) rocketed midweek, meaning their record is now not only number one, but also certified gold for sales of over 100,000.

The album, which features songs such as Shout Out To My Ex, is the 24th number one album from an X Factor act, the Official Charts Company said.

When the album hit the top spot last week it became the second fastest-selling album of 2016 and marked the highest first week sales for a British girl group number one since Spice Girls’ Spiceworld in 1997.

Second place in the album charts top 10 goes to Michael Ball and Alfie Boe, whose album Together is holding its own against strong competition.

Canadian singer The Weeknd is a new entry in fifth place with his third album, Starboy.

Meanwhile, Clean Bandit’s Rockabye celebrates its fourth week ruling the singles chart.

Pop diva Mariah Carey is also featuring on the charts as her Christmas staple, All I Want For Christmas Is You, lands back in the Top 40.
