Hollywood star Julia Roberts is heading to the small screen.
The Oscar-winner has taken the lead role of a limited series based on Maria Semple’s latest book, Today Will Be Different, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Maria, who has worked on TV shows Arrested Development and Suddenly Susan, will write the adaptation of the novel, which hit shelves in October.
The story is about a day in the life of Eleanor Flood, who had ambitions to have the best 24 hours of her life but abandons her plans when she discovers a strange, new future unfolding.
Maria told the Hollywood Reporter: “I’m giddy that Eleanor Flood will be brought to life by Julia Roberts… This will be a fun ride.”
A television network is not currently attached to the project, which Julia will produce through her company Red Om Films, the trade magazine said.
The Pretty Woman actress is the latest movie star to join TV projects.
Meryl Streep is starring in a Warner Bros’ television drama from JJ Abrams, while Amazon are developing a series with David O Russell that has Julianne Moore and Robert De Niro attached.
Julia has previously appeared in a one-off television drama, Ryan Murphy’s TV movie The Normal Heart.
