Jason Biggs apologises for Malaysia Airlines joke on Twitter

Jason Biggs issued an apology on Twitter over a joke he posted regarding the recent Malaysia Airlines MH17 disaster.

Following the news that 295 people had been killed in another Malaysia Airlines disaster, the Orange is the New Black star tweeted:

Oh Jason!

The tweet received such a backlash of hate he responded shortly trying to defend himself.

But Twitter was not backing down. Biggs has since deleted all the tweets, and issued an apology that his words “might have come off as insensitive and ill-timed”.

He also added that “No one is making me send these tweets- I simply understand that my comments might have come off”

This isn't the first time the actor has caused controversy online.

He was previously criticised for the posting the following tweet after 'The Bachelorette' contestant Eric Hill died in an accident earlier this year:

"Crazy rule change--instead of voting off the contestants, this season #TheBachelorette gets to kill them off."

Insensitive much?

You think his ‘joke’ was too soon?
