Is Daniel Craig keeping movie bosses guessing over return to Bond?

Daniel Craig is reportedly keeping movie bosses guessing over whether he will appear as James Bond in the next film.

According to a report in The Mirror, the 48-year-old actor has “snubbed” talks with production company MGM for a year, despite the 25th film set for release in 2018.

A source told the newspaper: “Daniel and MGM are currently at a stalemate with him having not spoken to them about Bond.

“They have offered a bigger wage deal, and asked about his filming availability to his reps in 2017, but as yet they have not spoken to Daniel.

“They want Bond 25 out in October 2018, but currently they have no Bond, film dates or knowledge of when that will change.”

The source added: “Daniel’s commitment is also a key part of whether Sony Pictures will come in to co-finance the film. So much is hanging in the air – and no-one knows.”

It was originally thought Daniel would step down from playing 007 after 2015′s Spectre, but in October he said he would keep on doing it if he could.

According to The Independent, he said while at the New Yorker Festival: “I’ve got the best job in the world doing Bond.

“If I were to stop doing it, I would miss it terribly. I love this job. I get a massive kick out of if and if I can keep getting a kick out of it, I will.”

This came after he previously said he would “slash my wrists” before making another film, after the tireless efforts of working on Spectre and then promoting it around the world.

But he made it clear that that was his sentiment at that time and not forever. When he was later asked by the Press Association about reprising the role, Daniel joked: “Do I have a choice?”

To date, the actor has appeared in four James Bond films: Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall and Spectre.

Daniel’s representatives have been contacted for comment.
