Irish actor Barry Keoghan to star in Marvel's The Eternals alongside Angelina Jolie and Kit Harrington

Irish actor Barry Keoghan is set to star in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's The Eternals.

The Dublin born actor will share the screen with Hollywood veteran Angelina Jolie, Game of Thrones' Kit Harrington and Richard Madden, as well as Salma Hayek and Kumail Nanjiani.

While the initial cast was revealed during the Dan Diego Comic-Con, Keoghan's character was announced during Disney's D2expo fan event which took place last weekend.

Keoghan will play 'Druig', an Eternal villain who is the Prime Minister of the Vorozheika and has the power to manipulate matter and energy- including the atoms of his own body. The character first appears in Jack Kirby's comics in #11, in 1977.

Keoghan posted a throwback to a tweet he posted in 2013, asking Stan Lee to make him a superhero. Keoghan added: "2013... The power of belief".

The 26-year-old actor, who is also an ambassador for Dior, received an Irish Film and Television Award for Best Supporting Role for his performance in The Killing of a Sacred Deer. Earlier this year, he received the a BAFTA Rising Star Award.

Marvel's The Eternals will be released in cinemas on November 6, 2020.
