'Inception' complex and fascinating

Director: Christopher Nolan

Cast: Leonardo DiCaprio, Ellen Page, Marion Cotillard, Cillian Murphy

Nolan’s clever and complex psychological thriller, which he also wrote, takes us into the world of dreams and the subconscious where Dom Cobb (DiCaprio, in another outstanding performance), a most unusual thief, operates to extract secrets.

It is corporate spying at its most sinister and Cobb finds himself more and more isolated and in danger, cut off from any semblance of normal life.

Given one last job and the chance of regaining his life, he and his team must now reverse their methods and this time plant an idea … with sinister forces working against them.

Nolan fashions a film that is menacing and exciting, packed with spectacular set-pieces and layered with sub-plots and nuances … a film that elevates the conventional heist plot into a higher level.

DiCaprio once again shows his versatility with a performance that further enhances his formidable reputation in the year’s most interesting blockbuster.

Star Rating: 5/5
