'I’m Still Here' hardly worth bothering with

'I’m Still Here' hardly worth bothering with

Director: Casey Affleck

Cast: Joaquin Phoenix

This strange documentary – or is it, indeed, a spoof mockumentary or a shallow media hoax? – traces the decision of actor Phoenix to quit acting and become a scruffy-bearded rap singer in 2008.

The trouble soon emerges in that Phoenix is such an awful character, rude and nasty to everyone around him, that we end up caring little for where he is: here, there, anywhere.

This rather disturbing glimpse of a man in the throes of a massive breakdown is also heavily boring, unpleasant and really hardly worth bothering with.

Star Rating: 1/5
