'I'm so excited I could pee myself!' Lady Gaga fans giddy ahead of star's long-awaited comeback single

Lady Gaga fans have gone absolutely wild at the promise of new music from their Mother Monster, and it’s no wonder.

The music superstar, who has taken a side-step into acting recently and also spent time creating jazz music with Tony Bennett, has promised the first single from her new album will land on Friday.

This is extra exciting because the Bad Romance hitmaker hasn’t released a solo album since 2013′s Artpop, and she hasn’t had a hit single since Do What U Want with R Kelly, released in the same year.

So yes, people are chomping at the bit for some new tunes from the star, who is known for her infectious electro-pop anthems and raw power ballads.

And some of them are rather well-known themselves, with New Zealand singer Lorde saying she might “vomit” with excitement, and US music star Adam Lambert just as giddy.

Gaga, 30, has already given some lyrical hints to the new album’s first track, Perfect Illusion.

Sounds profound, right? As yet, there are no clues as to whether this is a classic Gaga banger or a more subtle affair but, judging by her previous single releases, it’s likely to be fast-paced and a club hit.

She herself has said of the track: “I get this sick adrenaline rush every time I hear it.”

Perfect Illusion has been worked on by uber-producer Mark Ronson, as well as Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker and Justin Bieber collaborator Bloodpop, and the album also has plenty of big names attached, including Sir Elton John and Nile Rodgers.

Producer RedOne, who is responsible for her epic hit Poker Face, has also confirmed his involvement with the album, dubbed by fans as LG5.

An extra piece of exciting news is that Gaga – real name Stefani Joanna Angelina Germanotta – will be appearing live on Nick Grimshaw’s BBC Radio 1 show on Friday morning to co-host the show.

Her 2014 album with Tony, Cheek To Cheek, aside, Gaga’s latest solo record Artpop got a mixed reaction, so fans will also be hoping that her comeback effort will be well-received.

The release date and name of the new album – Gaga’s fifth solo record – are not yet public knowledge, so we’ll have to wait a little longer to find that out.

But the unveiling of Perfect Illusion on Friday will give us an inkling as to what is in store from the superstar.

In the meantime, fans have had to get by with her admittedly beautiful cover versions of classic songs with Tony, as well as her Academy Award-nominated song Til’ It Happens To You, co-written by Diane Warren, for the documentary The Hunting Ground.

They’ve also been able to see her on screen as one of the leading stars in TV series American Horror Story: Hotel, for which she won a Golden Globe.
