Tom Hardy has joined the cast of 'The Revenant'.

The 36-year-old actor will star alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in the upcoming revenge thriller, which is based on the Michael Punke novel of the same name, Deadline reports.

It marks a reunion between the pair who starred together in Christopher Nolan's 2010 film 'Inception'.

'We're The Millers' Will Poulter is also said to be in talks to join the Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu-directed project, which will be produced by Anonymous Content's Steve Golin, Keith Redmon and David Kanter as well as Arnon Milchan and James Skotchdopole.

Inarritu and Mark L. Smith adapted the script from Punke's novel, which centres on an 1820s frontiersman on a path of vengeance against those who left him for dead after he was mauled by a bear.

Poulter is thought to have impressed executives at Fox with his performance in the upcoming adaptation of 'The Maze Runner', which is set for release in September.

The 21-year-old star also recently finished production on indie film 'Glassland' opposite 'The Sixth Sense' actress Toni Collette.

Meanwhile Tom - who played Bane in the blockbuster comic-book flick 'The Dark Knight Rises' - can be seen in crime drama 'The Drop' to be released this September.

Shooting for 'The Revenant' is expected to begin later this year.
