Gok Wan has an important message for you, and it's very heart-warming

You might think he only deals in the super chic, high-end of the world of garms, but fashion guru Gok Wan also has a soft spot for hand-knitted woolly hats.

In a heart-warming Facebook post he shared the story of an elderly friend of his who turned her knitting talents into a business, at the age of 87.

The writer and presenter said that he met Joan when she was staying at his hotel in Southend for a holiday with her sister May.

He wrote: “I saw them at breakfast the other day and commented on Joan’s lovely knitting. She has since given me a hat every time that I have seen her and today asked if my mum would like one.”

When he insisted on paying for the cosy hat, she refused him and instead revealed that: “I have inspired her to start her own business selling her knitting to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital.

And the moral of the story? “LESSON! Never ever think that anything is impossible… ever! Life is about living, not just talking about it! X”
