Gervais takes office job in France

British funnyman Ricky Gervais has agreed to let hit comedy The Office be translated for a European audience.

The French adaptation - called Le Bureau - sees embarrassing boss David Brent transformed into Gilles Triquet, who works in an uninspiring business park north of Paris.

The cast, who have just completed filming, comprise mainly unknown actors.

It is the first time the Golden Globe-winning comedy has been produced in a foreign language and, if successful, could pave the way for it's global export.
