The Strictly Come Dancing final is upon us and it was up to Ore Oduba to kick of proceedings with his American Smooth to Singin’ In The Rain.
When he originally performed this routine in week three, he earned a commendable 35 points from the judges and the incredible compliment from Bruno Tonioli that “Gene Kelly himself would be proud”.
#StrictlyFinal Gene Kelly would have been proud of you Ore!— Janet Pirrie (@JanetLPirrie) December 17, 2016

And it seems nerves didn’t get the better of him second time round as he scored an even higher 39 points for his performance.
But the real special moment came when Claudia Winkleman announced that Gene Kelly’s widow Patricia Ward Kelly was in the audience.
My goodness! Gene Kelly's widow!! #StrictlyFinal— Ann Pugh (@annpugh) December 17, 2016
"And Gene Kelly's widow is here." Cue first tears of the night. #StrictlyFinal— Di Beddow (@DiBeddow) December 17, 2016
Genuinely lovely moment there with Patricia Ward. Nothing tacked on about it #StrictlyFinal— Chris Nelson (@ChrisNelsonMMM) December 17, 2016
Ore then summed up all those feelings by saying: “It’s hard to top this experience having Patricia here.”
It’s sure to continue to be a magical night for dancing.
