Gene Kelly's widow Patricia was in the audience to watch the Strictly final and viewers thought it was lovely

The Strictly Come Dancing final is upon us and it was up to Ore Oduba to kick of proceedings with his American Smooth to Singin’ In The Rain.

When he originally performed this routine in week three, he earned a commendable 35 points from the judges and the incredible compliment from Bruno Tonioli that “Gene Kelly himself would be proud”.

And it seems nerves didn’t get the better of him second time round as he scored an even higher 39 points for his performance.

But the real special moment came when Claudia Winkleman announced that Gene Kelly’s widow Patricia Ward Kelly was in the audience.

Ore then summed up all those feelings by saying: “It’s hard to top this experience having Patricia here.”

It’s sure to continue to be a magical night for dancing.
