Former Sex Pistol would love to perform Pink Floyd song

John Lydon would like to record a version of Pink Floyd’s ‘Dark Side of the Moon’.

The former Sex Pistols singer - who famously wore a T-shirt emblazoned with ‘I Hate Pink Floyd’ in his 70s punk heyday – said the move was a joke, and that he once came very close to performing some of the psychedelic album with original band member David Gilmour in Los Angeles.

John told website The Quietus.com: “Dave Gilmour I’ve met a few times and I think he’s an alright bloke.

“Two years ago when they came to Los Angeles, they asked me would I come on and do a bit of ‘Dark Side Of The Moon’ with them and the idea thrilled me no end.

“I wanted to do it. But just not when 20,000 people were there. I’d have gone to a studio and played around with it there. But not for the bigger picture. Privately. I’d love to go into the studio and do something with the album with them.”

John also said he always turns down the chance to appear onstage with other artists live, as he deems it old fashioned.

On turning down the opportunity to perform ‘School’s Out’ with Alice Cooper in London, he said: “A very sweet gesture but it’s aaah, you know?

“As a young, concert-going person I was never enamoured with celebrities who would walk out and feature in certain songs and then walk off. It struck me as being like ‘Come Dancing’. A little pony. And a little old. What old people do.”
