Efron named 'hottest hunk'

Hollywood star Zac Efron has been named the “hottest hunk” of 2014 – ousting Tom Daley, who took top spot in the Heat magazine poll last year.

The 26-year-old High School Musical actor, who has said he is getting therapy to deal with his excessive drinking, has moved up three places to steal the crown.

The highest new entry in the annual list is actor Jamie Dornan, who will be seen starring in the screen adaptation of Fifty Shades Of Grey next year, and takes eighth place.

Olympic medal-winning diver Daley was runner-up while David Beckham retained his position in third place.

The magazine said Efron’s topless appearance in the movie Bad Neighbours, along with having his shirt ripped off by Rita Ora at the MTV Awards, had secured his place at number one in the 101 Hottest Hunks list.

Heat’s editor-in-chief Lucie Cave said users of its website “voted in their thousands and selected Zac Efron as the hottest man alive”.

George Clooney – who is engaged to British lawyer Amal Alamuddin – has seen his appeal waver as he plummets 37 places to number 60. Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch was a new entry at number 24, while Prince Harry is at 32, down eight places from 2013.

The Hottest Hunks top 10 (with last year’s positions in brackets):

5 (33) Leonardo DiCaprio
