Douglas and Zeta-Jones back together

Michael Douglas is back with Catherine Zeta-Jones.

The 69-year-old actor was overheard taking a "very important" call from his wife who called to wish him luck during his red carpet appearance at the premiere of his latest film ' Last Vegas' in New York City on Tuesday.

According to sources, Douglas - who was also spotted wearing his wedding ring - left reporters waiting as he spoke to Zeta-Jones.

A source told the New York Daily News' Confidenti@l column: "She called to wish him good luck and he said: 'Thanks honey.' "

"The only reason she wasn't by his side is because she didn't want to take attention away from the film.

"It was Michael's night. She wanted to say hello and didn't realise he was on the carpet already."

The couple - who have two children Dylan, 13, and Carys, 10 - took a temporary "break" from their 13-year marriage in August but sources claim Douglas openly revealed he had reconciled with Catherine, 44, at an after-party later that evening.

A source said: "He was sitting in the corner with friends and people kept asking what's going on with Catherine, Michael said: 'We are doing great, she's better than ever,' and said their kids are doing great.

"They know they have some problems, but are speaking every day and are scheduling future projects with each other in mind.

"Both of them are wearing their rings; what more is there to say?"

Zeta-Jones has also moved back into their New York apartment.
