Depardieu to play 'unpleasant' Strauss-Kahn

French cinema legend Gerard Depardieu says he is going to play former International Monetary Fund chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn – because he does not like him.

The 63-year-old actor will star in a film about last May’s sex scandal in New York that derailed Strauss-Kahn’s political career.

In an interview with Swiss Television RTS yesterday, Depardieu, whose voice slurs several times, accused the former IMF head of being “unpleasant” and “arrogant.”

Asked if he would play Strauss-Kahn, Depardieu says: “Yes, because I don’t like him.”

Depardieu has appeared in more than 150 films, including 1990’s Oscar-nominated 'Cyrano de Bergerac'.

Sex assault charges against Strauss-Kahn led to his resignation from the IMF, but the criminal investigation against him in New York was dropped in August.

A criminal investigation on attempted rape claims in Paris was dropped in October.
