David Tennant will return to West End to play Don Juan

Doctor Who star David Tennant will return to the West End stage to play lothario Don Juan.

David will star as the cruel seducer in a new production of Patrick Marber’s play Don Juan In Soho, which is loosely based on Moliere’s tragicomedy Don Juan but with the action transported to contemporary London.

The play, which first premiered at the Donmar Warehouse in 2006, will be directed by Patrick himself and will run for 11 weeks at the Wyndham’s Theatre next year.

David, who has just finished filming the third series of ITV drama Broadchurch, last appeared in the West End as Benedick opposite Catherine Tate’s Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing in 2011.

The rest of the cast of Don Juan In Soho is yet to be announced.

The show will preview from March 17 2017, with press night on March 28 and will complete its run on June 10.
