Cowell not convinced on crop of semi-finalists

Simon Cowell isn’t sure if this year’s ‘X Factor’ winner will be a success.

The show supremo insists that although he is happy with this year’s semi-finalists – Joe McElderry, Danyl Johnson, Stacey Soloman and Olly Murs – there are no “big belters” such as previous winners Leona Lewis and Alexandra Burke.

He said: “I won’t know if any of the finalists will be stars until I get them in the studio.

“I'm happy with them but they're different. They're not like these big belting artists.

"They're going to get a lot of support whatever happens."

The music mogul also admitted he was attracted to fellow judge Cheryl Cole, saying: “You can’t not fancy her.”

He then insisted she also fancied him – but admitted his feelings were probably stronger.

It has previously been claimed that this year’s show winner will sing 'Don’t Stop Believin’' – originally made famous by Journey and already performed on the show by Joe – but Simon insisted he has yet to make up his mind what the winner’s debut song will be.
