Coleen heads to Lourdes

Coleen Rooney is on a trip to Lourdes – the French town she visited two years ago to pray for her seriously ill sister Rosie.

The 24-year-old wife of Manchester United and England star Wayne Rooney flew out of the UK on Friday to make the trip to the Catholic shrine, her spokesman confirmed today.

Coleen’s visit follows claims that her husband paid a prostitute £1,200 (€1,438) a time for sex while she was pregnant with their son Kai.

She has also had to cope with the deteriorating health of 12-year-old Rosie, who suffers from the brain disorder Rett Syndrome and is in intensive care in a Liverpool hospital.

It is not the first time Catholic-raised Coleen has made a pilgrimage to the small market town, where the Virgin Mary is said to have appeared in 1858.

In September 2008, she visited the shrine with her family to pray for Rosie, whose condition is incurable.

Her spokesman, Ian Monk, confirmed she is on a “private visit” to Lourdes and said no further comment would be made.
