Church's discs stolen from hotel

Four gold discs awarded to Welsh pop star Charlotte Church have been stolen by burglars from a family-run hotel.

Thieves grabbed the treasured items from a wall in the Cardiff, Wales, guesthouse run by Church's mother Maria and her stepfather, but fled before they could make away with a fifth after being disturbed.

It is still unclear which discs are missing as police await a detailed description of the items from the hitmaker.

Acting Detective Inspector Dorian Lloyd said: "The family don't know exactly what discs they are at the moment.

"Charlotte is the only person who knows exactly what they are and we are waiting for a detailed description from her.

"These items have sentimental value for obvious reasons and are pretty unique."

Church is tipped to replenish her award stash at next week's Brit Awards, where she has been nominated in the best British female category.
