Catch up on the 10 biggest moments in 10 weeks of Strictly

Blackpool week is over, which means it’s almost week 10 of the competition on Strictly.

This series we have loved hard and lost even harder (we’re still getting over Greg’s tearful exit last week) so, as the final looms, here are the 10 big moments of the show so far.

1. Will Young mysteriously drops out.

Yep, remember he was on Strictly? He said he was “absolutely dandy” following his surprise exit barely five minutes into the competition, but he was sent lots and love and support by all of his fellow contestants as stories emerged of his personal reasons for leaving.

2. Anastacia’s injury.

It was a physically trying experience for the singer, whose injuries didn’t make the strenuous training timetable any easier. But the drama reached a whole new level when the series’ fist dance-off was cancelled due to a tear in her double mastectomy scar tissue, automatically eliminating Melvin Odoom form the show. Viewer complaints even prompted an Ofcom probe.

3. Laura Whitmore’s injury.

Poor Laura was devastated when an ankle injury meant she had to sit out a weekend of the competition at the last minute. She braved the pain and rejoined the show in time for Halloween week but was given the boot in week seven. We are guessing the extra recovery time is probably a blessing in disguise.

4. Ore’s jive.

The moment we all fell in love with Ore. That is all.

5. Ed Balls nearly drops Katya.

We could easily fill this list with just Ed Balls, but the terrifying moment he nearly sent poor Katya Jones flying is still etched in our memories.

6. Louise Redknapp’s Argentine Tango.

Everyone loves the Argentine Tango, but the Strictly bosses kept us hanging on until week seven for the first one of the series. But Louise and Kevin Clifton’s performance to Tanguera was worth the wait.

7. Ed Balls’ Gangnam Style.

Somebody had to do this on Strictly and it HAD to be Ed Balls. This beauty made our day/week/month/year/life.

8. Rick Astley AND Simple Minds performed in Blackpool.

Just when you thought they were gone forever, these music legends brought the 1980s party to Blackpool week. Don’t worry, boys, we could never “forget about” you.

9. Danny Mac gets a perfect score.

He is just a bit too good, isn’t he? Doing a one-handed cartwheel whilst keeping in perfect time with Oti Mabuse alone was worth that well-deserved 10,10,10,10.

10. Gorka gets caught up in a Blackpool brawl.

Everyone was absolutely outraged when reports emerged that pro dancer Gorka Marquez had his teeth knocked out when he was attacked in Blackpool last weekend. Not even part of the competition itself, he had made the trip to support his mates on the stage. But you’ll be relieved to know he is feeling better and is back sharing that gleaming grin over social media.
