Brilliant adaptation of McEwan novel

A welcome release is The Cement Garden Special Edition (Arrow Films, €24.99), Andrew Birkin’s brilliant adaptation of Ian McEwan’s novel about a family who cover up their mother’s death to save themselves from the orphanage.

In doing so, brother and sister Jack (Andrew Robertson) and Julie (Charlotte Gainsborough) are irresistibly drawn to one another.

A remarkably beautiful and haunting film.
