Braveheart actor Mel Gibson, 60, to be a dad to ninth child

Sixty-year-old Mel Gibson will soon be a dad for a ninth child.

American publication People magazine was the first to report that the actor-director’s girlfriend, writer Rosalind Ross, who is 26, is pregnant.

His publicist Alan Nierob confirmed the report.

No further details about the pregnancy were made available.

Mel, who won an Oscar for directing Braveheart, has seven children from his marriage to his ex-wife, Robyn Moore.

Their youngest child is 17.

He also had a 6-year-old daughter with ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva.

His latest directing effort, the Second World War drama Hacksaw Ridge, debuted earlier this year at the Venice Film Festival and is due for release in November.

Mel isn’t the only star to welcome fatherhood later in life – this year musician Ronnie Wood became a dad again aged 69.

The Rolling Stones star and his wife Sally welcomed twin girls – Gracie Jane and Alice Rose – into the world in June.
