Brand to get US show

Russell Brand is getting his own American show.

The British comedian has signed up with Comedy Central to produce an hour-long stand-up special.

The charismatic yet controversial comic, who has won over American fans with his hosting stint at the MTV Video Music Awards and his movie role in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, will shoot the show in New York this November.

"Comedy Central is the home of South Park, The Daily Show and The Sarah Silverman Program.

"I am thrilled to have such esteemed neighbours," said the British comic in a statement.
