Director: Abbas Kiarostami
Cast: William Shimell, Juliette Binoche
A complex tale shrouded in reality-unreality, relationship or no and the age-old male-female dialogue … all against a background of beautiful Tuscany.
It’s the sort of film that seems over-complicated, not only by the nature of the central characters’ relationship but by its multi-layered nature and the fact that three languages are used, but it’s worth seeing for Binoche’s Cannes-winning performance as Elle, the gallery owner who entices English writer James (Shimell) into a romance that might not be what it seems.
