Applegate announces pregnancy

'Samantha Who?' star Christina Applegate is expecting her first child with her musician fiancé Martyn Lenoble, it has been announced.

The couple are said to be "thrilled" with the news.

Applegate's representative confirmed she is expecting to People magazine. No other details are known at the time of writing.

The 38-year-old actress and bass player Lenoble, 41, got engaged on Valentine's Day after dating for two years, but are yet to set a date for the big day.

Earlier this year, Applegate admitted she was keen to start a family with Lenoble.

She said: "What's next? Babies, lots of babies. Well, not lots of babies, but a couple."

The TV star has also previously praised Martyn for helping her overcome breast cancer in 2008.

Applegate, who had to undergo a double mastectomy after being diagnosed with the disease, said: "I have a small but mighty support system and Martyn has really been an incredible part of my life.

"Without him, I don't know if I could've gone through any of it. He came around at a time when there was a lot of loss in my life on many levels, so he's been a really incredible help."
