Anime is not my favourite film genre, but I’ll make an exception for the outstanding Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence (Manga, €29.99).
This two-disc technical and visual work by Mamoru Oshii is an excellent introduction to the high Japanese art form that takes 2-D and 3-D animation to a different level.
It’s 2032 and the last remaining humans are living peacefully until a gynoid — a human looking female robot — slaughters her owner and all hell breaks loose. Extras include a director’s commentary, interview with Oshii and lots more.
Star Rating: 4/5.
