Alicia and Jay-Z to perform at BRITs

Alicia Keys will perform with Jay-Z at the BRIT Awards.

The ‘Empire State of Mind’ singer will take to the stage next Tuesday alongside the rapper, to perform their smash single together.

Ged Doherty of the BRITs Committee said: “Alicia is a fantastic addition to the show. I can't wait to see her and Jay-Z perform one of the biggest songs of the year.”

Other performers to appear at the show include Lady Gaga, Jay-Z, Cheryl Cole, Lily Allen, Kasabian, JLS and Robbie Williams.

There will also be a one-off collaboration between rapper Dizzee Rascal and Florence and the Machine onstage.

Alicia will be celebrating at the event, after her latest album ‘The Element of Freedom’ reached the UK number one slot on Monday – showing her recent experiments with her trademark sound have paid off.

Describing how the title reflects the album, she recently said: “It is a different record for me. I always have been the type of person who wants to be able to try new things with every creative thing I do. I want to do something new. I don't ever want to feel I'm boxed in, in any way.

"So that's definitely one of the reasons I called the album 'The Element of Freedom'. I just really felt like that came through very clearly on all the songs."

The BRIT Awards, hosted by comedian Peter Kay, will take place on February 16 in London.
