Actress Kate Beckinsale's husband files for divorce

Actress Kate Beckinsale and film director Len Wiseman are divorcing after 12 years of marriage.

Court records in Los Angeles show that Len, 43, filed for divorce on Friday, citing irreconcilable differences.

The pair, who reportedly announced their separation in November last year, married in May 2004 and have no children together.

They began their relationship after working together on the 2003 movie Underworld, which Len directed and Kate starred in as vampire warrior Selene.

The film also featured Kate’s former partner of eight years, British actor Michael Sheen. She and Michael have a 17-year-old daughter together, Lily.

British star Kate, 43, will appear in the fifth film in the Underworld series – Underworld: Blood Wars – which Len helped write and produce. The film is due out in UK cinemas in February.
