Following an expanding series of comic books, inexplicably cute Demogorgon plushies, and an all-new Penneys clothes range, comes the latest addition to the Stranger Things craze – a nostalgic, as-seen-on-TV Airbnb aptly titled the ‘upside den’.
Found in the city of St. Louis, Missouri, a couple of states away from the fictional Hawkins, Indiana, the residence is helmed by ‘superhost’ Ann, with the help of her large, friendly dog, Bentley.
A private basement with self check-in via keypad, the property imitates the basement of the Wheeler family, and comes complete with a pillow fort, an extremely retro television, and a facade of Stranger Things Christmas lights based on the famous ‘Letter Wall’ from season one.
The property takes its Eighties credentials seriously, and visitors can enjoy a fully functional VCR with around 50 VHS tapes, among them period classics like Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Evil Dead 2, Dirty Dancing, and Die Hard.
Breakfast is included, and, if the reviews on Airbnb are to be believed, it may contain Eggo waffles.
Fortunately not all the den’s amenities are geared towards nostalgia, and the toaster, mini-fridge, hair dryer, Wi-Fi, and bathroom facilities are all a little more up to date.
The property sleeps up to four guests (one bed and one sofa bed), and is listed from $49 per night. Book here.
