Florida fire department rescues dog with head stuck in cinder block

A Rottweiler puppy named Fifi has been rescued by fire services after her head was caught in a cinder block in Florida.

St Johns County Fire Rescue uploaded photos of the rescue mission for the six-month old puppy, who was freed after the fire department cracked open the block in Hastings.

Posting photos of Fifi’s rescue on Facebook, the fire department said: “A resident in the Hastings area returned home from work today and found her Rottweiler Fifi in a rather precarious situation.”

The fire service explained: “Fifi was apparently sniffing around her residence and became stuck in a cinder block. The six-month-old puppy managed to wedge her head inside one of the holes in the block.

“Personnel from station eight arrived and began to work on Fifi’s predicament. Using the Jaws of Life (hydraulic rescue tool), firefighters were able to crack the block and free Fifi.”

The dog was uninjured by the rescue and, according to the service, is “excited to be sniffing around again”.
