WIT gains prestigious career-development award

On the day that Ireland's third level system was ranked as among the best in the world, Waterford IT has received the "HR Excellence in Research" designation from the European Commission.

It means that researchers who attend WIT will receive the best third-level guidance in Ireland for career development.

Professor Willie Donnelly of WIT said the designation was a great boost for the Institute.

"What we're offering is a structured career development framework for researchers who come to WIT," he said.

"Typically researchers are on contract and when they go to a high-level institution, it focuses on the work they can do for the institute and not on their career development. We're offering a framework to support them in their career development."
