US economy shrinks by 0.2%

US gross domestic product shrank by 0.7% in the three months of the year, according to Commerce Department figures.

The number represents a big swing from officials' original estimate - who first said it would by 0.2% over that period.

The figures are being blamed on the harsh winter.
