Successful planning permissions drop by 3.8%

There has been a drop of just under 4% in planning permissions granted in the first quarter of this year.

Figures from the CSO show planning was granted for 3,091 units, compared with 3,213 in the first three months of 2015, a decrease of 3.8%.

The slump in apartment building continues, with a drop of more than 20% in planning permissions granted.

One-off houses accounted for just under 32% of all new dwelling units granted permission in the first quarter.
