Sterling slumps to new low against dollar

Sterling has fallen to a new low against the dollar amid debt concerns in Europe.

Problems in Greece, Portugal and Spain have boosted the appeal of the dollar as a 'safe' currency.

The euro fell by as much as 0.6% to 1.3648, the weakest level since May 20 last.
