ISEQ makes slight gains

The ISEQ index of Irish shares was up slightly this evening by 31.21 points to 6460.44.

The financial heavyweights ended the day in positive territory with Anglo Irish Bank leading the way, up 18c to €9.53. Bank of Ireland gained 11c to €8.80 with AIB up 9c to €13.75. Irish Life and Permanent gained a modest 8c to €11.55 by market close.

Within the construction sector, CRH soared 27c to €24.65. Grafton followed suit, up 18c to €5.28 but Kingspan bucked the positive trend falling 9c to €7.75.

Elsewhere Paddy Power bookmakers suffered the biggest loss of the day plummeting 70c to €23.50.
