Inflation up slightly in past year

Inflation rose slightly, by 0.2%, in the 12 months to December.

The CSO says the most notable increases were in alcohol and tobacco prices which rose by almost 6%.

The price of clothing and footwear fell by 4%. The annual average rate of inflation in 2013 was 0.5%.
