IBEC survey: Up to 30% of firms expect to hire in next three months

The Government is being called on by the Irish Business and Employers Confederation to do more to get the domestic economy back on track.

The latest survey from IBEC shows that business sentiment has improved in recent months, with 30% of businesses now expected to hire staff in the next quarter.

It puts it down to a good export performance, but the domestic economy remains flat at best.

Chief economist with IBEC Fergal O'Brein expects exports to drop this year, but has said it is still the largest contributor to economic growth.
