Google promise to back Apple in battle against FBI

Google has said it will back Apple - in its court challenge against the FBI over the security of the iPhone.

A court has ordered Apple to hack into a locked iPhone used by a gunman who killed 14 people in a shooting in the US in December.

The company has filed an objection to the order, arguing that it would violate rights to free speech.

The mobile belonged to an Islamist gunman who carried out a massacre in San Bernadino in the US last year.

Apple has started a legal challenge against a court order requiring it to help the FBI unblock an iPhone.

The tech giant has said complying with the ruling would pave the way for all iPhones to be hacked.
