Good early gains for banks

Financial stocks make solid gains on the ISEQ index of Irish shares this morning, pulling the exchange 33.39 points higher to 2,397.03 by 11.45.

AIB was up 18c or 20.34% to 1.06, Bank of Ireland had climbed 20c or 29.41% to 0.86 and Irish Life & Permanent jumped 35c or 22.58% to 1.90.

Also climbing were Paddy Power, up 35c to 13.50 and Kingspan, up 14c to 3.11. C&C and Greencore were meanwhile both up 8c, to 1.47 and 0.85 respectively.

On the fallers' board, Kerry Group dipped 39c to 14.99; CRH shed 9c to 17.60; Elan Corp dropped 8c to 4.72 and Aer Lingus was down 1c to 0.62.
