Good day for ISEQ

The ISEQ index of Irish shares made strong gains in today's trading, closing up 85.81 points at 2,461.6.

Notable risers included CRH, up 74c to 17.12; Kerry Group, rising 35c to 14.60; Paddy Power, jumping 22c to 13.57; Elan Corp, cheering 25c to 4.75, and Ryanair, climbing 17c to 3.20.

Fortunes were however mixed among the financials, with AIB falling 4c to 0.93 and Bank of Ireland down 5c to 0.75. Irish Life & Permanent however jumped 17c to 2.24.
