Financial-services overhaul bill passed in US

Politicians in America have passed a bill for the most radical shake-up of the financial system since the Great Depression.

The bill will mean far tougher regulation across the industry, in a bid to prevent a repeat of the recent financial crisis.

It wil lalso provide for additional protection for bank customers and increased powers to dismantle troubled firms.
