Dow at highest level since last year

The Dow rose 80.26, or 0.8%, to 9,627.48 last night to its highest close since November 3, when it ended at 9,319.83.

The broader S&P 500 index rose 10.77, or 1%, to 1,044.14. The index has not risen for five successive days since a streak which ended on November 28.

The Nasdaq composite index rose 23.63, or 1.2%, to 2,084.02.
